Please do not close off our public lands because a small but well financed group wants Off Road folks out. We deserve better.

We need to have access to at least some of the areas! we are not all 20 and fit enough to get there.

I have been using public lands for 75 years. In the last 10 years I have seen BLM and FS managers close roads that have been used by the public for 150 years without problems. "Unable to Maintain" is the common excuse. Volunteers used to help, but now we are being told volunteer services are not welcome; too dangerous. Everyone knows that using Public Lands involves a certain amount of risk and a lot of preparation. I still love taking my UTV to the mountains, deserts, and plains to see what I can see. I have both full-size and under 50-inch UTVs. I always carry a small chainsaw, shovels, pry bar, water, fire extinguishers, food and survival gear. Because I have limited mobility, I take an able-bodied person with me. We try to follow the MVUM guides, but they aren't always accurate. Occasionally we have to cut out a downed tree or move a boulder out of the road because we can't cut a new trail up and around (like a horse or motorcycle). I like to think that we are part of the Public helping to maintain Public Lands. A movement that the majority of us follow, and a few idiots that don't make us all look bad. As we get older we need some of the features available only on the bigger UTVs, like enclosed cab, power steering, and HV/AC. Please consider the billions that older Americans have already spent on our retirement activities, and how that could continue if we have places we can go to sightsee in our larger UTVs. Thank You.

What an ATV or ORV means to a 73-year-old man that loves the forest and has all his life.
I have hunted from the time I was a small boy in the farm country of Maryland. After collage I took a journey out west heading to Alaska to kill a bear. I was short on cash so I stopped in Seattle to make some money prior to continuing my trip to the north. To this day I have never been to Alaska and now I do not want to kill a bear. I fell in love with the Cascade mountains and the surrounding area. I have lived in Washington State for over 50 years.
I worked my tail off and finally retired in 2016 and moved to Chelan, Washington on the east side of the Cascades. I have hunted in those mountains for some 45 years as time allowed me. Work always trumped hunting so I would go when I could. My job took me around the world a few times and to every state in this great land. Just another meeting room and a plane ride looking down from thirty thousand feet. As I became older, I became too weak to hunt Elk anymore followed closely with deer. I still love the outdoors and need to get out there.
In 2017 I bought a cargo trailer and a two up Can Am ATV. I gutted the trailer and made it into a little camper that could also haul my ATV. This provided me with the tools I needed to continue to see the country. Flying all my professional career was fine but now I am retired in I can see the USA from the ground. I don’t have a schedule anymore. I can search out all the museums and trails and go see them. Being an engineer, I drove into how I was going to continue to keep going to the mountains in different areas of the United States. To date I have finished building my trailer, bought many off-road books, studied internet items, staged allot of camera gear up to a 1200mm leans, glassing bios and a two tripod, I have developed a library of trail maps, got a Senior Pass to see Parks. My ATV is street legal and fully insured through State farm. I am not into rock

My age group enjoy this activity, and are more concerned with our environment then most. Please keep our public land open for us. Be more concerned with opening this land for development and exploration from the wealthy
