Totally Agree with this I'm going through exact same with my child school are brilliant but it's all down to government funding etc

My daughter has asd and learning difficulties she is 5 non verbal currently at 12-18month old level she attends a special needs school we choose not to put her in mainstream as were told she would not recieve the same care and needs that she would in special needs school. So much more needs to be provided for children with autism instead of being excluded.

This effects my son, everyday wr have to send him to school knowing he struggles. People dig their heels in fir the help and support he needs. There needs to be more support for these kids and their parrnts

I'm also in the same boat my son is in year 7 of secondary school and it's totally stressing him out he needs more help put in place

I 100% agree with the sentiment behind this petition. There is a woeful lack of specialist provision for the ever growing number of autistic children. This is very true of County Durham, where there is ONE unit for primary aged children with autism, with a handful of places. The rest of the provision is generic special schools for children with a wide range of needs and learning disabilities.
The biggest gap, in my opinion, is educational provision for children that have overwhelming sensory problems with large group education settings, but who are academically able and often gifted. These children are being badly let down by the system, as their behaviour prevents them succeeding in mainstream and their academic needs are often failed in generic special schools.
I will fight too for suitable provision for these unique and wonderful children who should be invested in.

I feel strongly about this as we are in the same boat. Every child deserves an education and there are plenty of people out there who are fully capable of teaching.

My son is 4 and we're having such a battle to get his EHCP been refused once already and now waiting for a answer on our new application while he struggles in mainstream school.

My son is in year 10 and I've just deregistered him due to the lack of support from school. I should have done it sooner, I fear the damage has already been done.
