We the motorcycle riders who park in Thomas St Ultimo are petitioning the City of Sydney for more dedicated parking areas than what is currently available. In recent years the number of motor cyclists from UTS, Sydney TAFE and the ABC, among others, who park in this vicinity have increased and have greatly exceeded the supply of parking allotted to motor cycle riders, forcing us to park in car parking areas of which there is ample for cars. It is impossible to park in the motorcycle zone after 8.30am and some days there are up to 50 motorcycles that cannot park! That's too much! We are constantly having to move our bikes every 2 hours to avoid being booked and council parking inspectors are in the area almost every day, sometimes twice a day, looking to book riders who have exceeded the time limit of the car parking area. There is not a rider who parks there who hasn't been booked at least once this year. We are angry and frustrated.

We are being unfairly targeted.

Most of the riders are students who can't afford to pay fines of over $100. There is too much car parking areas and not enough areas for motorcycles. Times have changed and the City of Sydney needs to adapt. Motorcyclists should be rewarded for not using cars, not punished because there isn't enough parking for us.

We are asking the City of Sydney to remove an amount of car parking and make another motorcycle parking area. If you removed 3 car parking spots and turned them into a motorcycle parking area then everyone could fit in.

Be reasonable. Be fair. The amount of motorcyclists will only increase. Please! More motorcycle parking in Thomas Street Ultimo Now!
