This is a short-sighted unworkable plan. This will only bring more traffic to the area and cause extreme problems at all the off-ramps where the overflow will just cause serious backups all up and down the beltway.

More lanes will produce more vehicles on the roads. We need to get vehicles OFF the roads. Better public transit options and service would do that.

We do not need more lanes on the beltway that will just lead to even more congestion on the roads then heading into DC from the beltway. We need smarter transportation solutions.

I’ve spent most of my adult life protecting whatever house I’ve lived in from road widening. This is the most ludicrous of all: not only would the extra lanes just serve as a traffic magnet, but they would decimate the sort of diverse, moderately priced neighborhood the county brags about!
