Please support children in our public education system by showing support to bring More Educational Assistants back to our classrooms. The Ministry keeps cutting funds for Educational assistants who are the backbone at the ground level in the school for assisting kids physically and mentally through behavioral support. These kids are not being provided with enough support to carry out the suggestions made by our Ministries own Behavioural Consultants. Meltdowns and disruptions are going to become a common occurrence in our schools because kids are Not receiving the support they need. Special Ed kids are being put in the regular classroom (inclusion) without the means to stay afloat. Regular kids are being affected by the constant disruptions and behaviors. Kids are removed from their own class when a child acts up from their learning environment to somewhere deemed safe. This is not proactive. EA 's are trying to put out fires instead of teaching correct behaviors because there are not enough Hands. Kids with with behavioral issues are lumped in with the Sspecial needs children out of necessity so that they can all share one EA in the classroom.
I am currently compiling a report detailing the specific gaps between current staffing levels and the recommendations provided by the Ministry behavior consultants. This documentation will be delivered directly to the school board office to formalize the request for additional classroom support.

The scale of this response confirms that the current staffing levels are untenable. I am now finalizing the formal request for a meeting with the Minister of Education to present our findings.

Teachers cant be expected to do it all alone. We need help in these schools or everything is just gonna fall apart.

My daughter is constantly missing out on lessons because of the constant eruptions in her room. Put the EAs back where they belong!!

My son comes home so upset every single day because his teacher is always busy with one kid and can't help the rest of the class. It isnt fair to anyone.
