Organic rules require that we improve the soil. Why are organic farmers going through all the trouble and paperwork if the USDA says it's ok to not grown in soil? It totally waters down the word organic. No pun intended.

Man cannot synthesize what the soil has to offer and if a hydroponic farm is put on the same level as a farm that works tirelessly to give nature his best...that's just not fair or accurate

Organic farming began with the soil as the primary focus. You can't remove the soil from organic farming and call it organic farming. It's called hydroponics at that point.
