Stop the Oppression of the Arts at Montrose

Montrose High School's schedule for the new school year involves changes. Four 42-minute lunch periods will now be 3 30-minute periods. 4 minutes in the halls will now be 3. Because lunches are shorter than the now 50-minute classes, they can't be dropped for more electives. Students who only have 2 or 3 electives will have to choose between foreign languages (which are accepted as important for college-bound students), and band or chorus. A student who has French and wants to take band can't take chorus, and vice versa. This is unfair; and I'm afraid it is another symptom of the slow choking-off of the music program in the Montrose Area School District. Sign this petition, and we may be able to stop these ridiculous and unnecessary changes before they start.
