We have so many religions in India but Diwali is biggest fear one. We have good Indian kids at Montgomery school district and we will be really happy when on Diwali kids can celebrate with parents like back in India.

Yes Diwali is celebrated by a majority of people from India and Indian born or from Indian origin has a significant presence in schools. It’s hard to celebrate Diwali when kids are at school, requesting to provide one day holiday at Diwali each year

yes yes yes !!! this is so so important. i personally don’t do anything special/celebrate diwali with my family but the amount of discrimination this school district has towards any other religion besides jewish and christian/catholic is so wrong and disgusting. especially when indians make up such a large percentage of the population. kids should be allowed to celebrate this holiday with their family and see it for what it is and realize the importance of it, but they can’t if they have to worry about school and tests and homework all due the next day. this is more than kids just wanting another day off, this is about giving this religion and beautiful culture the well deserved recognition they’ve been fighting for.

I have noticed that India lists ALL religion's festivals as public holidays, which is a true and proper inclusion and a true belief in diversity. I think we too should do the same.

We should get the day after Diwali as a delayed opening so students celebrating get enough sleep

I definitely believe we should have a day off during Diwali so that if we do miss it, we don't have to worry about making up missed work
