PETITION TO THE CITY COUNCIL OF JACKSON, MISSISSIPPI PROVIDING FOR THE ESTABLISHMENT OF MOBILE FOOD VENDORS IN THE CITY OF JACKSON

WHEREAS, mobile food vendors enliven the pedestrian environment by providing convenient and a diversity of products at affordable prices; and

WHEREAS, mobile food vending stands lend charm and vitality to an active urban environment; and

WHEREAS, organizations like Main Street MS, The Mississippi Restaurant Association, Mid-Town Community Organization, as well as numerous individuals support this idea on economic growth opportunities, convenience, diversity, and joining in the ever increasing number of cities across the nation who are finding economic, social, and cultural benefits from a free market approach for legitimate business opportunities; and

WHEREAS, we the people who work, live, and visit the City of Jackson believe it would be advantageous, beneficial, and in the best interest of the City of Jackson to establish the opportunity for these forward thinking entrepreneurs to locate without prejudice at various places in the City.

THEREFORE, we the undersigned are asking the City of Jackson to approve a mobile vending ordinance with haste, since there has been much study and exploration into the idea.
