This petition is to increase the possession limit for walleyes in the state of Minnesota. We would like to see the possession limit raised from the current one day limit, to a two day, posession limit. All of Minnesota's surrounding states currently have a posession limit of at least two daily limits. Minnesota resorts, restaurants, bars, etc.would greatly benefit from a two day possession limit. With the current regulations, people fishing for two days, must consume their entire limit prior to taking a limit the following day. Residents may not keep any fish if they have a daily limit in their freezer. This basically forces anglers to eat their catch immediately and not at their lesiure. Tourists that would like to take fish home, basically have to gamble that they will catch fish on their second day of fishing. If not, they go home with no fish. Minnesota already has a possession limit for perch, so there is a precedent. A 2-day possession limit for walleyes in Minnesota will increase tourism and add tourism dollars to the Minnesota economy and make fishing more enjoyable for its residents. Please join us!
