Minnesota legislators are introducing a bill to make mini trucks, also know as "kei" trucks street legal on all state roads. Here is a little background information on these trucks:
Currently there are 15 states that allow them to be used in some way on public roadways; North Dakota is one of those states.
Some approximate Statistics: Dimensions: 10 feet long, 5 feet high, 4 feet wide Weight: 1800 lbs Truck Bed: 4’ x 6’ with fold down side...s; some have dump capability. Bed capacity: 880 lbs Towing capacity: 1200 lbs Engine: 550-660cc, Liquid Cooled 3 or 4-Cylinder, Gasoline-powered, with approximately 40 Miles per Gallon Transmission: 4 or 5-Speed manual transmission, Low/High range, push button 4x4 Standard 12” wheels with radial tires, some trucks with differential lock or axle lock Standard heat, defroster, windshield wipers, headlights, turn signals, brake lights, rear and side view mirrors and safety belts. Some units have A/C. Mid-mounted engine, with a very low center of gravity.
The legislature has been quiet about HF 291 so it is time to turn up the volume. Email your local representative today and demand a hearing for this bill. Put this link on your Facebook page to show them that Minnesota drivers want these utility vehicles on our roads.
