We the undersigned UCU members of MMU Business School call on the Dean and Senior Management Team to pause the process of the restructure and redundancy and immediately to engage in meaningful negotiations with UCU, the recognised Trade Union.
Whatever our views on the objectives and merits of this reorganisation, whatever they might be, it is so important that due process is followed and that management treats staff and the UCU with the respect we deserve. Whether this was deliberate, or a mere oversight, decency should prevail and proper consultation take place.

I’m am completely understanding of the need for change but when moving to the new School and appointing new Heads of Departments passed deadlines by several years, I think rushing through restructuring this quickly is hypercritical. Anxiety over roles and work transmits to students /staff and this erodes good relationships further

It is simple not acceptable to go ahead with these proposals without consultation with union representatives.

Change can be a force for good but poor planning and kicking staff motivation and commitment has made the consultation process a massive cause for anxiety. Slow down and do a proper job. A fair way.
