The pump on my car went and the dealer offered to replace it with a $2500 price tag. Whoever designed the pump and its location was not thinking at all. There should be a major recall on this part/ design.

seems Mitsubishi have finally admitted the AYC pump issue is a design flaw and are now offering extended 2 year warranties and are making the new pumps out of stainless steel which is why it has been classed as a design fault. Because where it is situated behind the rear wheel with no protection from the elements it was always going to fail. i have seen the internal memo but they dont want us evo drivers who purchasd the car when they first came out to find out about it. i am at present tying headquarters up in knots cos they cant wriggle out of the tight corner ive got them in. they keep asking me where i found out abouy the internal memo but like im going to tell them that!

I have a 2009 Mitsubishi Evo MR. My pump failed at 15,000 K. It was replaced under warranty but with the same pump as originally in the car. It has failed again at about 70,000 K. Mitsubishi has been excellent in both cases. This time the pump is being replaced with an upgraded version that should resolve any future problems.

My ACD pump just went out on me too, and it's a real shame that it would go out so fast. it's not even as reliable as they say.

Mitsubishi Canada has recently (January 2015) extended the warranty on the ACD pump to 10yrs/150,000 km. Just had mine replace at dealer. Cost: $0. They will also reimburse those who have paid the $1500-$3000 to have this done prior to 2015. Finally Mitsu has addressed this problem. I don;t know about Mitsu USA.
My pump died last month
