The redevelopment agency has officially approved our plan for the Mission Bay tot-lot. Thank you for your persistent backing of this project. We look forward to seeing the community come together during the site preparation phase.
With over 275 children now living in Mission Bay we need a playground. A beautiful kids park is planed in the area but it will not be built until the parcel next to it is developed. With this economy climate this could be awhile. The tot-lot would be a combination of volunteers building and planning, Redevelopment Agency preparing the site, and a grant to pay for the structure.
I have been reviewing the comments left on this page and the stories about the lack of local play spaces are truly compelling. These accounts illustrate precisely why our neighborhood requires a dedicated area for young children to gather. I am currently coordinating with the Redevelopment Agency to ensure our proposal remains at the forefront of their planning discussions.

The closest site is at Rincon Park, crossing a heavily trafficked 3rd Street, without pedestrian traffic control along the extension of the canal walkway...

The vacant lots are just sitting there collecting trash. put that space to use before someone gets hurt trying to cross the road

my toddler has nowhere to run around safely near our building, crossing third street is a nightmare with a stroller

IT IS RIDICULOUS THAT WE HAVE SO MANY FAMILIES HERE AND ZERO PLAY SPACES. FIX THIS.
