I'm so glad this petition didn't go through. This was such a fun badge to earn. My daughter and her friends loevd exploring different careers. ... they didn't talk abbot Barbie. That said... Barbie was being an astronaut, doctor, vet, computer programmer, etc... and all while you were complaining.

I agree with this GS. There are correct level uniforms for the American Girl dolls. Personally I feel that any doll representing Girl Scouts should be done with respect to all volunteers that choose to teach the values of Girl Scouting. Cadettes learn to be confident in who they are and to be proud of being ok with themselves and learning not to give into peer pressures. I think having a perfect Barbie with a perfect figure and perfect dress does not encourage the values being taught.

I get that it is just a toy,however, I think it needs to be in correct uniform and with actual badges that Barbie could earn with the girls not just do the Barbie patch.

Girl Scouts has been attaching themselves to many products. Most of the products are candy, chocolate milk, coffee creamer, ice cream, and now Barbie. I'm quite sure that GSUSA could put its brand on other items besides sugary foods and a doll. Why not promote something that can be used outdoors or for outdoor play? A product that better represents what Girl Scouts is about.

I agree they could of done better with uniform. As far as not having a partnership with Mattel and other companies, maybe we could just ask all paid staff to volunteer all there time as volunteer's then we wouldn't need these partnership ' s; )I'm sure that would work.....

Here's my opinion on the barbie. I feel she should have been in correct uniform not the pink as she was a junior she should have been in the right uniform. I did buy the Barbie as I am a big collector and knowing the contrervisy behind her I wanted to get her before mattel decided to discontinue. I think there are some changes that should be made to her. Maybe they could also represent the rest of scouts from Daisy to Ambassdor. Here is my opinion on it and I hope his helps with your project. I was shocked when I saw that GSUSA was partnering with Barbie. I can't imagine who made that decision, or how they thought Barbie and GSUSA were complementary brands. A very disappointing move on the part of GSUSA.

G.S. of America had done a great disservice to their girls. Girls dont want to be defined by pink clothes and pretty hair, they want to be defined by their successes and beliefs. The corporate employees of girl scouts need to step out of their city and see what girls are really wanting. The organization is losing girls and volunteers at an alarming rate. camps are closing, funds are being lost, companys are backing out of letting girls sell cookies at their locations. All the while the paid employees are getting bonuses. Meanwhile our girls are seeing your corporate sellouts and they arent happy about it!

Girl Scout Barbie is a poor way to portray our organization. I believe it is important for GSUSA to listen to it's members before making such endorsements.

I think the current Mattel/GSUSA design re enforces all the worst public conceptions of Girl Scouts. It portrays us all as nothing more than cookie selling Valley Girls.

This petition is a great idea! I think that the GS Barbie is a horrid representation of who the Girl Scouts are, and this partnership has led to many young girls feeling insecure about their body...10 year old girls!!! If you see this petition, I would recommend you sign this right away!!
