Yes please, let’s limit our kids’ screen time and have them actually learn

The iPads have been a significant hindrance to my children's education. It is far too easy for them to do anything but their work, and most of the internet is still open to them to browse. Their maturity is not at the level that the iPad allows for, and they need to go back to paper and pencil.

As a mental health professional, I find the heavy use of technology in our classrooms to be surprisingly detrimental to the students' academic and emitting well being. I would strongly support moving away from daily screen use for all ages, but K-8 is a wonderful place to start!

Switched our current middle schooler to private due to iPad use in mmw. Now we have a rising 6rh grader and he really wants to attend mmw and I’m very concerned

It's not enough to allow some families to opt out. I have to be limited much more than they are now and introduced much later. When elementary kids can't use iPads at school they will be teased. Even if they aren't teased they will feel different, or "special" and make the social aspects of school harder. I also believe you can already opt out of iPad use or greatly restrict it based on family values, however it does create some difficulties.

In our household, iPads are off limit. If we as parents try our best to limit screen time, why would it be ok for schools to expect children to use them extensively and without good oversight on what the iPads are being used for? The required use of iPads for school will go against everything we, as parents, have worked hard for over the years to ensure our kids don’t become screen addicts. I would like to opt out of iPad use for k-8.

At the very least please limit them

My kids are all older but this computer being used all the time in school is crazy. Then the teachers assign homework like IXL to be done after my daughter has been on it all day. Way to much computer use.

Thanks for organizing this petition! iPads have already ruined many kids. They bring addiction, anxiety, and ADHD symptoms. Poor security and iPad monitoring from the school were a cause of children watching age-inappropriate content. Also, they can watch YouTube all day at school. They use Google Chat and send messages every minute during the school day. They have group chats with people outside of school. They use Google Docs to chat and the teacher thinks that they are working on tasks. Teachers let students use AirPods at school. Children are listening to music all day - not studying.

Anything we can do to decrease screen time with our kids and have them write and read from textbooks would be very helpful

I hate that the kids only use iPads

So true! The older kids were playing a game called Five nights at Epstein's! They also use a Google sites work around for accessing YouTube and gaming sites.

Electrics are proven to reduce learning

Please, keep our kids analog.
