The sooner, the better! Don't they know straight people can have AIDS too?

Absolute joke. Screening is better now than it was 30 years ago. Stop living in the past and get with the times.

Its 2017 for god sake. We are crying out for donors and yet they turn away perfectly healthy people because of who they love. Sort it out.

Stupid rule. My brother is gay and healthier than any of my straight mates. Blood is blood.

This archaic rule should have been removed a long time ago.

This ban is archaic, no longer relevant and harmful as more donors are needed.

Does the government not think that a married man and woman does not have anal sex. I really wish people would have better information about sexual relations. It's time gay men were treated with respect and equality. Just another Irish failure !!!!!

This ban has stood in place much too long.

I'm a blood donor myself, having given more than 50 donations, but I believe this ban is an affront to all people, gay or straight.

This is a ridiculous, discriminatory ban. Good blood should always be welcome.

There is no scientific reason to keep the ban. At this stage, it is there simply from a historical fear of what might happen. With blood stocks constantly teetering on the brink, it's time to bring the IBTS into the 21st century.
