Minecraft is a game about placing and breaking blocks. It is a world where you -the player - can adventure with friends, slay Creepers and pixelated zombies, build skyscrapers or just watch the sun rise over a blocky ocean. Minecraft is available all over the world, on almost eleven gaming consoles and in 62 different languages. Furthermore dozens of popular YouTubers like SkydoesMinecraft, TheBajanCanadian, YOGSCAST Lewis & Simon and Captain Sparkles all make their living off of ad revenue by recording Minecraft gameplay and content. Currently as stated from Game Content Usage Rules by www.xbox.com "You may post your Item to a page or website that has advertising, but only if you do not earn any money from that advertising. For example, if you post your video on Youtube or Vimeo and there happens to be an advertisement next to it, then as long as you don't get paid for that advertisement, the fact that there is an advertisement on the page doesn't break these Rules. But enrolling in the Youtube partner program (or other similar programs), where you are entering into an agreement to get paid, is not allowed. On a similar note, if you create and distribute a free app, then you can't earn any money from advertising in that app."
Minecraft has helped educate students, form friendships and give people the ability to do amazing things. I believe that we shouldn't let a corporate giant take control of our beloved game - who knows what will happen to Minecraft once Microsoft takes over?
