We, the undersigned, urge East Dunbartonshire Council to play an active part in the humanitarian response to the current Refugee Crisis. Specifically, we urge EDC to welcome refugee families to the family-friendly community of Milngavie, where people of good-will and sufficient means will be able to play their part meaningfully. Our local primary schools have the capacity to comfortably welcome 40-60 children, or more, and the community would welcome the opportunity to help our suffering brothers and sisters. If EDC can show the political will, the logistical problems can be overcome - We Shall Overcome!

I am honestly overwhelmed by how many people have gathered here to support this cause. This momentum belongs entirely to the community and the kindness you have shown proves how much we care about our neighbors.

Our community would be enriched by welcoming refugees needing a safe haven from war and brutality.

In such a strong wealthy community we should extend our hands to displaced persons who need our help.
