Over the years, many families have come to believe that Mill Valley would be better served with an alternative soccer club. The most frequent reasons given have been the following:

  1. Affordability of programs
  2. Professional Coaching for All Levels
  3. Transparency in Club Structure
  4. One Club for All Players
  5. School-based teams and practices
  6. Sensible (time-saving, efficient & sustainable) field allocations to limit travel time and maximize convenience (e.g. close to schools)
  7. Extended season (advanced/competitive) with coaching participation for interested players
  8. Closer ties with other sporting clubs in Mill Valley/Marin

At this point in the process, Mill Valley Parks and Rec need us to demonstrate sufficient interest in the alternative club in order to allocate fields for next season. This DOES NOT require a commitment at this point, simply an indication that you would consider an alternative if one existed. Please sign to indicate your interest.

The level of participation surrounding this initiative has surpassed my initial expectations. This clear demonstration of local interest provides the necessary foundation for our upcoming discussions with the Parks and Recreation department.

"Pay to play" should not exist in our town. Every kid should have equal chance to play at the same level and families should not be subject to paying their ridiculous competitive fee's. Good to see someone taking a stand. Thank you.

While I love this idea, I fear that it may fragment the sport even further. Right now my kids do Dev soccer and only have three or four other teams with which they play against. Wouldn't it be more fun if each local town's teams played against each other? Lacrosse was very much like that and the kids seemed to love it. I'm happy to have constructive feedback on my concern.

By providing an alternative soccer option for Mill Valley kids, through the city's Dept. of Parks and Rec., we are offering a more affordable way for more kids to join the sport. I urge others to sign this petition and give the city their fields back to run their own soccer program.

Yes! Bring back sanity to Mill Valley youth soccer. MVSC leaders abuse the resources granted to them by the town. Development and competitive program are a scam and its time the town take back control to better serve the kids/families who want to play soccer at ALL levels. The new program needs to be run right - but just look to the other youth sports leagues in our town to learn how to run it right (Baseball/Lacrosse/Basketball)
