The object of this petition is to allow active duty service members when moving to a new city, state, or county the right to be exempt from local banning ordinance or laws that would not allow a service member to keep their dog. This would allow the active duty service member to keep their dog, regardless breed (i.e. Pitt bull, German Shepard, etc.), as long as the service member owned the dog prior to moving to the new city, state, or county. Provided the service member certifies he or she will not sell, give away, breed, or release the dog into the general population and that the dog will be confined to the service members residence or leashed when walking.
