This is a petition to change the parking policies at Middletown High-School North
What is being proposed?
- Assigned parking spots being done away with.
- Late procedures being changed: three lates results in a lunch detention rather than one. (As being done @ Middletown South)
Why?
- There are more than enough parking spots at HSN
- Students should be rewarded for arriving earlier to school by receiving the most desirable parking spots.
- On A or B days students may have a class on the other side of the building. So why should they be limited to parking on one side of the building, sometimes resulting in them being late to class.
- This has been the policy in recent years and worked why change it this year?
**NOTE**- (Students will still be required to purchase a parking pass, and follow online guidelines, including completing RDAT forms)

I was looking at the notification feed and honestly it feels like the whole school is showing up for this right now (which is just wild to think about since I started this during my free period on a whim). It is definitely starting to feel like the administration might actually have to listen to us because the momentum is just building and building on its own.

Honestly I wake up early to get to school on time & still manage to go to Dunkin, but the only reason I'm late is because I have to park in east bumble and then they lock the door at 7:36 and I have to walk in the rain/cold/snow! not happening I just won't show up for school
I have to walk to the other side of the school everyday for Block 1 and I have been latte to those classes multiple times. Plus the underclass men crowding the hallway does not help my attempts to make it to class on time
At Rumson fair haven high school the parking spots are first come first serve. If you come in early you deserve a spot of you picking.
The current parking policy is especially troublesome for people like myself who drive larger than average vehicles that need the entire spot when cars in bordering spots park on the line or even partially in your spot. The current policy will also likely if not already lead to many dents and scratches in students cars from other car doors due to people parked in undersized spots in an overcrowded lot simply trying to get out of their cars.
Students should be rewarded for arriving early and complying with school rules. The system currently in place does not do this. There is no reason the first person on school grounds should have to park in the farthest spot away from school.

For some reason, this year kids are being punished by the assigned spots, with multiple kids getting lunch detention while someone else parks in their spot, untouched. Assigned parking spots cause unnecessary trouble and reward the slackers who have better parking spots and show up later.
