Induct Michael Nesmith into the Songwriter's Hall of Fame

he should be there with all the great ones!!

Michael Nesmith is one of the greatest songwriters of our time and should be recognized as such.

Why is he not in already??

long overdue!

He deserves this for basically inventing the country/rock genre

Mike is an amazing songwriter who (quite often) does not get the recognition he deserves!!

Nez is beyond deserving of this honor.

I think Michael nesmith is such a great singer /. Songwriter very talented I would love to see him in the hall of fame Tammy!

I love Mikes songs, and he did a lot than most people did .

one of the greatest sonwriters gob bless mike nesmith

Mike Nesmith's songwriting skills and works are by far some of my favorites ever. The songs he wrote as 1/4 of The Monkees was just the tip of the iceberg. If anyone deserves to go into the songwriting HOF it's Nez for sure!

This is a portion of something I wrote on 8/31/13 with some edits to format to this petition: Micheal Nesmith's songs mentored me and my own efforts that followed and paralleled his path for my entire time as a songwriter. Of the mere humans who remain on the Planet Earth and eschew humbly their place in history, Nesmith certainly fills a place in my consciousness and derives from rarified strata that few could attain. I can think of no one more deserving of this honor as retrospect has allowed even his worst critics to see the 'whole' of his insightful creativity in thought, word, and deed.

This man must be inducted for obvious reasons. Period. End of story. Thank you.

He has added so much to the world of music, with his words, music, performances, ahead-of-his-time thinking, music video, movies of the mind. books with soundtracks...and we aren't even crediting his movies or books or wry sense of humor. His music has moved & helped so many (including me) and provided entertainment to people of all ages for over 50 years. He shouldn't be just a member, he should be the president!

I can think of no one who deserves the honor more.

Michael Nesmith, beyond any doubt, should absolutely be in the Songwriter's Hall of Fame.

I really hope someone listens to this!!

It's hard to imagine that Michael Nesmith isn't already a member; especially when you consider his catalogue of music from the Monkees to First National Band to his solo work. He belongs without a doubt.

Along the way, he also helped create the genres of short form and long form music videos (winning the first Grammy for a music video with "Elephanr Parts"), and helped to create MTV (back when they used to play music). What an amazing talent!

Just do it! This Country Rock Pioneer and give this man the accolades he deserves!
