Mica mining occurs to support the beauty industry, however, it also condones and encourages child labour in developing countries. Mica is a mineral substance that is found in mines, it is what is used in many makeup products to add the shimmery look that many desire. It is used in products such as eye shadow, blusher, lipstick, highlighter, and foundation. Mica is found in the hilly forests of rural Jharkhand, India where workers as young as 10 work to separate the glittery mica from rock debris.
Mica mining involves child labour and harmful working conditions for the workers, and therefore it means it is in violation of a variety of human rights according to the United Declaration of Human Rights
