Ten years ago, MSV Council voted against a dog park in Miami Shores. Now we are asking our Village Officials again to create what we want for our Community.

If you are in favor of creating an off-leash dog park for Miami Shores Village residents, please sign this petition. According to our Mayor there are approximately 2500 dogs within the 3680 households that comprise MSV.

Please note your address on the petition and if you would like to share any thoughts, suggestions or a favorite location please use the comment section.

Please join this effort to build a park where residents and dogs can socialize, meet neighbors, make new friends and connect with each other!

Each person that lives in a home in Miami Shores is entitled to sign this or other petitions. It is not only one signature per household. So please all husbands and all wives and all partners and grown children are eligible to sign. Thanks for your support!

My wife and I have lived in The Shores for almost six years and it's a bit absurd how far we have to go to find a dog park. I applaud my 171 neighbors that have signed this petition before me. Please reach out to me at [email protected] to help get the remaining signatures. I have some ideas for how we can get the word out. Thank you.

There is no park at all within easy walking distance of my home, much less a dog park where my dogs can run free for exercise and meet other dogs in the open, where they don't have to feel defensive because they're on a leash and tied to me. I support the idea.

A dog park is just one more tool to bring us together. There are so many dog owners and having a place to taking our dogs not only is a benefit to our pets but to us as a community. We come together. We meet new people. We bridge differences. I can only see the positive. Thank you to everyone who has supported thus far.

An off-leash dog park would provide a much needed place to exercise and socialize our dogs. Walking them on a leash is not at all the same. And contrary to some concerns I heard at the recent Council meeting, dogs do not tend to bark much at dog parks - visit one and see for yourself.

I live in Miami Shores. I think there is more joy per square foot in a dog park than in any other urban space. I love watching the happiness of dogs allowed to run and play freely, and I don't even own a dog! I wish there was a park near my house that could be used for such a positive purpose.

Dog parks are always enjoyable and I fully support it. Would be great if they could include a water sprinkler so the pups don't overheat in the Miami sun. Rules are important because there are irresponsible owners and dog walkers who cone with 5 dogs at once and can't control them all.
