Miami Shores Residents in Favor of Changing Current Fence Height Restrictions

We, the residents of Miami Shores Village, respectfully petition the Village Council, to vote in Favor of changing the current 5FT fence height restriction to allow for a 6 FT fence height. We understand that there are some areas where a 6 FT fence would create a safety hazard for residents but otherwise we want the right to erect a wood, stone, cement, or chain link fence up the 6FT if we choose to do so on the sides and rear of our property.

I have spent my evenings walking the neighborhood and listening to your concerns about privacy and security in our own backyards. These conversations are pushing me to keep pressing the Council for a change that respects our peace of mind.

Seeing so many neighbors speak up for basic privacy in our backyards validates why I started this effort in the first place. This momentum proves that our community is ready to finally modernize these outdated rules.

My backyard is right next to the busy road and 5ft doesnt block any of the noise or dirt. we really need that extra foot for some peace and quiet at home.
Yes I think it needs to be 6'0 really is too low now I so dislike it :-( it's time to change this crazy law please ;-)
An additional foot of fence offers the privacy most people seek when installing fences. Especially for those homes located on corner lots with heavier traffic.
It isn't necessarily wise, for safety reasons, to have a 6-foot fence that can't be seen through or over, but as long as people understand it makes a burglar's job easier they should be allowed to do it. Plenty of back yards are obscured already by fences, tall dense shrubbery and even outbuildings flush against the alleys. It's reasonable to tell people they shouldn't do that too, but it's not reasonable to tell them they can't.
I wanted to thank everyone who signed the petition so far. I also would like to ask you to please spread the word and encourage everyone in Miami Shores that you know to sign this petition. I cannot stand in front of the Council by myself and ask for change without the support of the residents who want this change to happen. I am only one person and I need the community's support Thanks Liz

I support a height of 6 feet for sides and rear, but cannot sign the petition because it supports chain link fences. Chain link fences should not be allowed anywhere in the village for any reason.
