This petition is a way to fight against the wrong doing that is taking place in the sport of track and field. These actions can be intentional or unintentional, however, they still need to be brought to light and have consequences. There have been several instances of officials in the sport wrongfully doing athletes over and no consequences are made. Directors creating rules that negatively render an athlete’s athletic ability. Whenever these directors are reached out by athletes they provide an answer back with little to no respect for athletes. These employees of MHSAA need to be held accountable! Now is the time to take a stand and be the change!

Sports are great way to represent a state but with the way that the system is set for track there are no way for athletes to flourish. MHSAA has not only failed the athletes but the spectators, coaches, donors, and media. The potential for our sport is stronger than ever however under these current guidelines and leadership we will stay stagnant.

Last years state meet for pole vault is one prime example of how the officials put athletes at risk of injury and caused their performance to decrease. A simple adjustment and observation could have prevented this from occurring. Following the disaster at state last year, freshman mile runner Andrew Brown was ruled ineligible because of competing at nationals while representing Mississippi. These are just a few examples of how MHSAA are negatively impacting athletes

It’s time for change! It’s time for NEW!

We are looking for ways to improve the rules and regulations that control athletics. With the improvements that have been made in the last twenty years the old rules are in dire need of revision. There is no reason to be considered “behind the times” whenever we have the ability to produce greatness. The current rules simply disregard the aspects of bettering an athlete. With this petition passed we are demanding changes to rules, changes to director's, changes to officials, and changes to productivity in the state.

The momentum is undeniable now. Officials can no longer ignore the pattern of negligence keeping our athletes down.

Andrew Brown worked so hard and they just threw it away for no reason. This state organization is a mess and they have to be held accountable for once.

This makes absolutely no sense. A runner can not participate in any extracurricular activities outside of school, but yet travel teams for soccer, baseball and other sports are allowed. It needs to be fair across the board.

Tillman and Smith cheated my honor roll and top football player out of a scholarship years ago, by not putting his grades in before his senior year. I know exactly what it's like to have your child cheated on. That did nothing but gave their best.

This is completely unacceptable. We pay taxes to ensure our children get what they need including the ability to participate in sports. These coaches and school board failed our children.

The way these officials treat our kids is a total joke. They act like they own the sport and dont care about the athletes at all. Change needs to happen now.

Fix this. My daughter deserves better than what she got at state last year.
