Millville High School Education

We, the undersigned, believe that the freedom of choice and creativity of students is being hindered at Millville High School. With the new scheduling changes it is near impossible for students to schedule anything except core classes, which are English, Mathematics, Science, and Social Studies. The cause of this is State exams and standardized testing. Anything that is not on a state exam is considered unnecessary. In the real world more skills are needed than those to score well on a test. People need creativity and other skills that are not learned in these core classes. Taking a music, art, foreign language, and any other non-core class gives a student valuable skills that can and most likely will be used in the real world. We believe that students deserve the right to an education that will help them succeed in the real world.
