NOTE: PLEASE DO NOT DONATE $$$ ON THIS AS THE MONEY DOES NOT GO TO THE PETITION CAUSE!!!! DO NOT DONATE >>>>> NO DONATE
We the undersigned wish to state solidly our distaste and outrage against the marketing placed on one of the Halifax Metro Transit buses. This bus is done up in full regalia of Bacardi Rum. It shows a bottle of Bacardi Rum splashing along the side of the bus.
This is a bus children, elderly, mothers, as well as perhaps people fighting alcoholism have no choice but to use everyday. We think as we reflect on the growing problems due to alcohol, that it is quite sickening to see, what is essentially a giant bottle of booze roaming our streets picking up children in strollers. The psychopathic nature and absurdity of this image seems to be lost on the people who decided to run this ad. We want to do the right thing and tell you that this form of advertising is not indicative of what we want Halifax to represent to our children, our mothers, our brothers and sisters and we implore you to remove this sickening form of advertising immediately.
REMEMBER, METRO TRANSIT IS PUBLICLY FUNDED AND OUR MUNICIPAL GOVERNEMNT SHOULD NOT, EVER, GET IN PARTNERSHIP WITH ADDICTION-CREATING BUSINESSES,
SUCH AS TOBACCO AND ALCOHOL. IT IS OUR CITY, OUR TRANSPORTATION SYSTEM AND THE TRANSIT AUTHORITY HAS NO MANDATE TO INSULT ITS CITIZENS, BIG MONEY OR NOT!
Sincerely the undersigned.

The feedback I keep getting is that these booze ads have no place on our public transit. Post a photo of the next Bacardi bus you see to your Facebook feed and tag Halifax Transit. Demand they prioritize our community over liquor profits.

The momentum behind this campaign is picking up and the transit authority is starting to notice our presence on the streets. Send a quick email to your local city councillor today to demand they stop using our public transit system to advertise alcohol. We keep the pressure on until that bus is stripped of those ads.

Kids have innocent mind. They tried to follow and imitate whatever is around them. Advertisement in public transit is very exposed and easily attract their young, innocent mind . We already know the impact of Tobacco and Alcohol in our society. Please remove and stop promote these in the public transit for the sake of our children. We definitely don't want psychopathic and addicted future generation.

so tired of seeing these ads everywhere. public transit should be neutral ground not a billboard for alcohol companies.

The Bacardi ads are coming off the buses. This victory belongs to every person who refused to accept liquor marketing on our public transit system.
