We are Delivering this petition to bring to your attention something that we believe is unfair and requires your full attention. This is in connection with Eastern Region trains to Johannesburg journey and encloses monthly tickets and it has been happening for the past 5 to 7years. ISSUES 1. Safety on trains-security on board trains. A. We have no security on board trains, in some instances the commuters are robbed at gun point on board moving trains, we also have a lot of peak pockets B. Some trains are delayed because people smoke on trains and when drivers are affected by the smoke trains stop. 2. Safety of trains-no windows. A. Majority of our trains have no windows in some cases the whole 11 carriages have no windows on both sides which we believe is a breach of safety rules and some of the areas that these trains pass people are known to throw stones at the trains which puts commuters lives at risk. 3. Trains delay-no proper planning and alternatives. 4. Infrastructure funding from the provincial government-can’t they invest in PRASA in a way that is similar to their funding to Gautrain. A. On a daily basis Metrorail reports cable theft, panel outs and points out B. We propose that the Provincial government embark on an infrastructure fund for Metrorail Gauteng to fast track the backlog on infrastructure development C. 5. Lack of communication A. When trains are delayed we receive little and at times there is no communication at all from Metrorail. B. We always receive inconsistent information and this depends from station to station whereby different reasons are given for the delays SOLUTIONS PROPOSAL 1. Provide security on trains. A. All late trains should have regular patrols and off peak trains also need regular patrols as it’s the right time for criminals to do their deeds. B. Prasa service is non existent. Service is poor and communication is even worse. We buy monthly tickets. When the service failed, we do not get reimbursed for this even.

Time keeping is quite huge problem, along goes the lack of communication with commuters.

Please fix the train they are delaying us nd cost us our jobs I have written warning because of late coming nd we need security nd police protection in our train because of the crime rates in our trains we are not safe in the morning during the day nd in the afternoon

Please have police on every train. We are tired of being robbed of our handbags and phones

Hi, live in jhb & work in pta west, I rely on trains to get to work and back home as well. I never got to work on time and back home on time either. The other day I was robbed in a dark station and I lost my belongings and taken to hospital. From cor delfos station to jeppe station in a train with no windows in the cold season. Please be advised it's no good there

I'm drivelling from tembisa to Pretoria connectining at kaalfontein train 0605 between 05h40 to 05h50 our problem starts immediately after kloofsig station when we are is when we stark for 30minutes. Because we stark there for 1h30minutes everyday now is running for two months therefore we request the minister of transport to intervene and solve our problem before we all lose our jobs
