Henry, a year-old dachshund, emerged from a PetSmart nail trimming with blood foaming from his mouth and struggling to breath. He died minutes later. An X-ray showed Henry had two broken ribs and a punctured lung.

“We never had children together,” his distraught owner said later. “I hope people can understand, these are our children. We pray he doesn’t die in vain.”

The groomer has been charged with murder, but Henry’s death is part of a troubling trend of animal cruelty at PetSmart.
