Merit Based Education System
Education is seen by all classes as an avenue for mobility and this includes the affluent classes too. Education is an important tool for a country to develop its economy. A literate and more importantly, a skilled population will facilitate the development process. Education is one of the most powerful instruments in reducing poverty and inequality. It is a great equaliser that improves the standard of living. It is key for the social and economic growth in India, especially with India as one of the fastest growing economies in the world.
The government spends about a third of its budget on education, yet there are huge disparities found in the quality of education that an individual gets. A child’s access to quality education is restricted by their class and caste.
Reservations are the worst thing in the education system. Deserving candidates don't get seat but the one who is a reserved candidate with less marks gets a seat easily. Why reservations? Why not on your own capability? I have seen this in my college parents and students standing in front of the principal cabin for admissions for hours, other than disappointment they get nothing.
Reservations should really be removed from the education system. It should be given to only those who actually need it and not to everyone.
