Mental and Career counselling for the Homeless
The issue of homelessness is at an all time high. It jumped by 12% in the last two years in both the city and county of Los Angeles. The number of tents, makeshift encampments and vehicles occupied by homeless people soared by 85%, to 9,535, according to biennial figures from the Los Angeles Homeless Services Authority. About 13,000 people on public assistance tumble into homelessness every month in Los Angeles County, according to a new study.
The rapid spread of Homelessness can be attributed to soaring rents and low wages. Mental health aid and career counselling is the least that can be done for this troubled section of society.
This petition stands for the facilitation in the offering of pro bono services for the homeless by the Los Angeles City Council. These tools would help alleviate some of their issues and guide them through the transition of finding accommodation and employment.
