it is recommended AG to be a muslim in line with Article 145(2) of the Federal Constitution which provides the powers and duties of the AG, and among others; to advise the YDPA or Ministers upon such legal matters as may be referred to him... Since islam is the religion of the federation and YDPA is the head of religion of islam, to appoint a non muslim as AG will not be in consistent with the oath of YDPA which includes among others to protect the religion of islam.
