We signed this petition out of solidarity with our graduate students, whose commitment to confronting and overcoming the legacy of racism in philosophy is exemplary. We wish to note that we have now endorsed, in addition, a separate faculty statement against racism in our field, which is intended to accompany the graduate student statement on the website of the department of philosophy. We take the faculty statement to offer a specific articulation of the commitments that need to be undertaken by members of our department to address these vital issues.
