Manchester needs to be on the right side of history.

This does not affect just one group, if affects the entire state. Manchester needs to rethink their decision on this subject. Being neutral on this issue would not do us any good and it shows how much everyone is valued here. Not just the students, but the faculty and staff as well. I want Manchester to step up for everyone.

People can't help who they love. Everyone deserves the right to marry the love of their lives!

Basic civil rights have to be faught for, not passively hoped for. Its times like this when I am ashamed to be from Indiana. It is a state, a government... not a church. No one is forcing a church to perform any type of marriages when gay marriage is protected. If the massive amount of ignorance in our state government passes this, it will be the beginning of a battle that WILL be won by equality.

I'm absolutely sickened that the institution which shaped and inspired my desire to be a voice for the voiceless could remain silent on this issue.

I have never been more disappointed in my college or my state. This is an outrage and needs to change so my friends that are gay can have the same rights as I do. It will be one step at a time but at least it is movement in the right direction!

I am so disappointed. I'm signing the petition thinking of all my LGBT friends who I went to Manchester with and deserve better than this.

I remember the graduation speech I was delivered, that challenged us to stand up for what was right even when it was hard. I feel like Manchester is not practicing what it preaches. What happened to my Alma Matter?

It is time to put a stop to this. Everyone deserves to marry who they want to marry. It is as simple as that.

I support marriage equality. Taking an opposition to HJR-6 would show ability, and more so, conviction, and that is related to Manchester's mission statement. Please join the likes of Butler University, Ball State University, Wabash College, Depauw University, etc.

I oppose HJR-6 personally and professionally. Personally, I, much like most community members and state citizens, would love to marry the love of my life one day. There is no reason that because of my sexual orientation, I do not deserve a wedding. The only thing that makes humans less than human is other humans.

Let's put an end to ALL forms of discrimination and exclusivity...we are called to be radically inclusive.

Peace, justice, human/civil rights -- these are much more than political issues. They are moral and ethical issues on which principled institutions speak out.

I support equality in all of its forms. Manchester College helped to broaden my horizons and open my eyes to things that I, being from a very conservative family, had never really been exposed to. As such, I am extremely disappointed with Manchester University's decision to remain "neutral" in the face of such open opression. I am ashamed that the institution that asked me to promise, upon graduation, to take into account the actions of those I work for and with, would so willingly disreguard this same promise in favor of investors.

Equality is equality and love is love. I am deeply saddened that MU could choose not to support any one "group" of people. Is it possible MU has grown too big to remember where it came from, an educational institution that's unspoken mission was to promote peace, love, and equality? Please rethink your position on HJR-6 or I may be forced to rethink my end of the year contribution.
