For the second time in two years, Three Village School District has illegally blocked the establishment of a school club organized around faith, the Students United In Faith Club.
Like all other clubs, this club's formation and purpose are protected by federal law. Last year the school claimed the club's purpose would violate separation of church and state, which was recanted after legal admonishment. This year they claim it didn't secure large enough membership to be supported by the school. More hogwash.
Sign this petition to force the school to do what they are legally bound to do: support the establishment of student groups without bias, as guaranteed under the laws of equal access, and protection from discrimination.
This petition will be delivered to the Three Village School District and the school in Long Island, New York, as well as Principal Alan Baum of Ward Melville HS, [email protected] .
This is ridiculous. If kids want to meet for faith they should be allowed to. Schools need to stop picking and choosing which clubs they like and just follow the law for everyone.
