I brought this up after living here in Melissa 5 years and never hearing them or seeing them. Every town I have lived in has had them to save lives. It baffles me that the city spends $50k on a water tower yet won't have working tornado sirens for its residents and growing city. This should not take a petition this is common sense.

I have signed up for the text alerts but those don't even work. I don't receive them until 2 hours after they're issued. We need these sirens to save lives.

It seems pretty silly that we have lights on our water tower but not working tornado sirens. They seem like a basic need for a town with tornado risks.

The "Code Red" is complete garbage. If I am to lose my family or belonging because of inadequate notification I would file suit against the city as well as the creators of this garbage. I have never received a warning in time and I have also tried to opt-out but it will not let me. FIX THE SIRENS!!!!

Our daughter and her family live in Melissa, TX. We are currently looking for a new home to be closer to her. I have to say, if this issue is not solved, I will not buy in Melissa.

We live in Dove Creek and if Melissa had a tornado siren we would be able to hear it. I can't believe that as fast as Melissa is growing that this is not a priority!
