Megan Besler sang our country's National Anthem at Busch Stadium for the St. Louis Cardinals vs Phillies on July 23rd, 2013. Taking a huge risk, the Cardinals management team allowed a soloist to sing the Anthem on their field. Normally, this is set aside for school choirs, school bands, etc, who are looking to do some fundraising. But the Cardinals took a leap of faith and allowed Ms. Besler a shot at her dream. "I contacted the Cardinals once in early 2012 about singing for them. I got a response back saying that they only allowed groups of 4 or more to sing. No soloists. I understood, but did not want to give up. 5 months later I tried sending them my demo cd one last time, and sure enough, got a call back saying they would like to take a chance on me!" - Megan Megan was born and raised in small town Iowa. Always having a dream to be a performer she finally got that shot when asked to sing for the Milwaukee Brewers in 2011. After moving to Milwaukee, WI and graduating college, she headed to St. Louis where she now resides. "Singing for the Cardinals has been such an amazing, surreal experience. The people have been extremely generous and amazingly kind to me through out this entire season. I cannot thank the Cardinals organization enough for taking a leap of faith on me, and giving me the opportunity of a lifetime" -Megan Megan had to sell 350 tickets in order to sing that night. But, as we all know, Megan doesn't do things the "easy way"......Megan outdid herself, and sold 750 tickets!!!! What an accomplishment!! Recently though, the Cardinals organization has come to terms, that they will, in fact, no longer be able to allow soloists. But with having, technically, 2 years under her belt (one with the Milwaukee Brewers, and one with the Cardinals, not to mention all of her Iowa Hawkeye performances), we would like to think seniority would have a factor in this. With all of that being said, we would like to start a petition to help gain support in Megan's future with the Cardinals. We most definitely would like to see her come back and prove that she has what it takes to be THE solo singer again for the Cardinals. For all of those who bought tickets from her this past year (2013) and would like a chance at hearing her sing again, please sign the petition. Or for those who just support her in general, please, sign your name below :) We would like to have a goal of 1000 signatures and send this to the Cardinals very soon to hopefully prove that she's got a fan base and people who want to come and support her and the Cardinals :)
