As healthcare providers, we see every day how the lack of affordable health insurance negatively impacts the health of Idahoans and limits the economic opportunities for their families. The Healthy Idaho Plan is a home-grown solution to close Idaho's coverage gap. Currently, 78,000 Idahoans earn too much to qualify for Medicaid, but too little to qualify for assistance in the state's insurance exchange. These working Idahoans need an affordable coverage option! We urge Gov. Otter and the Idaho legislature to act now to close the coverage gap in our state and pass the Healthy Idaho Plan.
