I am on SSDI and I am not eligible for Medicare due to the two year waiting period . Since I am on SSDI that I have worked for and I earn a little over 9,000 a year I due not qualify for Medicaid . I have been told that I fall in the gap . Since I have a share of cost of 805.00 monthly it was suggested by someone working for Medicaid that I just go to the ER to open my Medicaid so how is that suggestion saving money for Florida a ER bill versus a doctor bill Hmh can't see the reasoning in that. Please get of your high horses and expand Medicaid for Florida we need it now put it on the ballot I'm sure it will be voted on and Florida will have to expand .

This is too important to sleep on. My place of employment was threatened with closing due to the irresponsible antics of Florida's wealthy governor's refusal to work in the best interest of THE PEOPLE he is suppose to represent. Thank you and God bless our faithful Congresswoman Corinne Brown and OTHERS for working for THE PEOPLE!

My nephew, Brightrick Brown, was a smart ambitious young man with a quirky sense of humor. Against all odds he finished college. It was a struggle for him because he had no financial assistance not even from his parents. He had to stop and get a full time job along the way to save enough money to continue, but by and by he did it. Brightrick always wanted to be a doctor, so after his undergraduate studies be applied to and was accepted in a school of chiropractic medicine. Shortly after starting Chiropractic school, he started experiencing debilitating generalized pains in his joints and a severe shortness of breath. He was diagnosed with sarcoidosis. The health insurance Brightrick could afford while attending school didn't cover the medical care need to treat his condition, so be didn't get the care he needed. Over the next two years Brightrick got sicker. Despite his pains and weakness he finished chiropractic school and went on to successfully pass his licensure exam. My nephew, Dr. Brightrick Brown, died shortly thereafter on my birthday.
Brightrick died before the ACA went into effect. But even if he hadn't he would not have been able to afford it as a college student. He would've needed the Medicare expansion to bridge that gap. No one should ever have to die a senseless death like Brightrick did, simply because they can not afford medical treatment. Tell State House Republican lawmakers and Florida Governor Rick Scott to stop playing politics with the healthcare of Floridians. Please join me and sign the petition to demanding that they approve the Medicaid Expansion through the Affordable Care Act.

Without Medicaid expansion, many are still without medical care because of the income requirement that the Affordable Care Act dictates an individual must have to participate in the plans.

I'm saddened that our Florida citizens are limited to so many needed benefits!
