AUB currently offers a diploma in Media Communication and an MA in Media Studies. However, AUB is one of very few English universities in Lebanon that doesn’t offer a BA in Media Communication, despite numerous requests do start such a program by students, alumni, and the news and communication industry.
Media Communication is a booming field and its valuable and transferable skills are fundamental today both for the job market and for society--just witness the role of digial and social media in the Arab revolts. In addition, more and more students are seeking a BA in Media Communication and we hope that AUB will offer us this greatly needed degree soon, especially that the many media courses are already being offered, enough to create a strong BA degree. When students come to AUB, they expect nothing less than the best education in the region, and they expect specialties and degrees relevant to today's job market and society's needs. A BA in Media Communication fits these expectations.

Seeing 250 names on this list feels surreal because I remember when it was just an idea I discussed with friends in the library. Getting this far proves that I am not the only student here who feels held back by the lack of a proper degree program. We have enough momentum now to start demanding a real meeting with the administration.

I have been hearing from so many students who feel like their potential is being capped because they have to look elsewhere for a degree that should exist right here. We have enough existing courses to build this program today and I am working to ensure the administration understands that we are not asking for something impossible.

Seeing one hundred people put their names behind this really shows how overdue this degree is for our campus. I remember feeling so frustrated that I had to look elsewhere for a major that already exists in pieces here and I am grateful to see so many of you feel the same way.

would have loved this when i was an undergrad. definitely need to make it happen for the next batch.
why do i have to go somewhere else for a media degree when i want to stay at aub? makes no sense.

AUB is supposed to be the best! Needs to offer a BA ASAP. Too many students are interested in this for them to keep ignoring us.
