Yesterday morning (10/11/16) at approximately 06:06AM, tram flipped on route to Wimbledon from New Addington, when approaching Sandliands tram stop in Croydon.

This led to the death of 7 people (with this number likely to increase) and 50+ people getting injured, some with critical and life threatening injuries.

Despite this, the US election still received more news coverage than this loss of life and tradegy for Croydon people, families and friends.

This petition is to get recognition from the UK media that their actions were not acceptable and the coverage levels were poor. As much as the election is important, the UK people also want to know about what's going on in the U.K. and we certainly expected more coverage than what this tradegy received.

This is for the dead, the injured, their family and their friends. This is for the men and women from fire, ambulance, support workers and transport services that continue to work tirelessly to find out what happened, console those who have lost loved ones, helped rescue those that were trapped and operate on and try to repair those who were injured.

Let's get some justice and get our grief recognised.

I made a formal to the BBC about their 10.00 pm News. The first 32 moments dedicated to the US elections, the same was all of the news channels that day

It saddens me that people may not have been aware that friends, family, neighbours, co-workers etc were killed or injured in this accident because of the saturation of US presidency articles. It was a horrific accident and should have been given the status it deserved.

As a non driver who has lived in Beckenham for most of my life I frequently use the trams and would welcome increased awareness of this issue in order to increase tram safety where possible.

Completely agree. Shocking 'non-coverage' of this tragedy. So typical of media coverage these days. Not on the same scale I know, but on the same day a serious problem completely disrupted train travel on Thameslink (nothing unusual I know) but for thousands of people travelling to work a major event that was also ignored. Thoughts go out to the families of all those affected by what happened in Croydon.

I have no idea whether this is helps the injured, families and friends but UK media organisations have followed their personal obsession rather than public interest and a hugely significant event that affects so many of our people. They have failed us.

Not usual that you have to look several pages into a national paper for a major tragedy in uk such as this.

I am signing because I agree that the UK Media were totally wrong in giving so much coverage to the US election and should apologise publicly to the victims and families of the Croydon Tram Crash
