The Medal of Honor is defined as: the highest U.S. military decoration, awarded by Congress to a member of the armed forces for gallantry and bravery in combat, at the risk of life and above and beyond the call of duty. As a result of the heroic behaviors of the teachers at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, CT, I am asking for your signature to this petition to support giving the Medal of Honor to all the teachers who lost their lives in protecting the children in their classroom. We can get this petition to the president and ask for recognition of the "risk of life and above and beyond the call of duty." Schools have unfortunately become combat zones at times. This is not meant in anyway to lessen our military personnel but to add to their ranks the unselfish life giving acts of others. Please join me in honoring these teachers for their heroic and unselfish acts of bravery and kindess and love for their students. Please sign and pass this petition on to everyone you know.
