Petition for the participants in Montgomery College theatre productions to be registered students

The MC theatre shows are meant for students of the college, any
major, any campus, who are enrolled in one or more classes at Montgomery
College. It's an educational theatre program meant to give the students
a chance to build a resume and gain some experience in a nonthreatening
and simulated professional environment as well as it is an educational
way to prepare them for the professional world of theatre, focusing on
improving their craft teaching them how to be professional in this
career.
In recent years it has become practice to let people who are not
enrolled at MC audition for the shows and, should they get cast, make
them enroll in a class. However, in past years many of these non-MC
students who were cast found a way around that and managed to stay in
the show without being registered. That means that anybody, even people
with a theatre degree from another school and significant experience,
can audition and get cast. This isn't fair to the hard working students
who attend the school who are still trying to improve their skills and
would greatly benefit from the experience of doing a show.
What has been "allowed" at this school in the past years is besides the point of what this program should really be about: the students, in this case the students of Montgomery College.
So I demand:
Give the shows back to the MC students. There has to be a rule that states that only students who are already enrolled in classes at Montgomery College can participate in the shows. That is the only way to be fair to the students.
If you agree, please sign your name under this petition and I will
pass it on to the MC theatre department. Hopefully we will be able to
make a difference and
achieve some changes. Thank you!
