My 9th grader is struggling with the start time of high school. Frankly, we all are...insanely early!

just switch the drop offs for the elementary schools and the high schools and you shouldn't have an issue with the buses.

I understand the bus issue. But elementary schools should start the earliest. Little kids are up early anyway.. The other issue that I've heard is that it shortens extracurricular time, but extracurriculars are not as important as student health. I also understand that it leaves less time for jobs, but they are, again, not as important as .health

My son is still an infant, but someday he will a teen and will need sufficient sleep to learn and grow optimally. Changing the school start time to reflect the most recent developmental and sleep research is simply the right thing to do.

Just switch the Middle School and High School start times like they did in Arlington, VA.

With an older child who struggles with anxiety and depression the early start time exacerbates these conditions.

The medical and mental health guidance is clear on this for the health and flourishing of our kids.
I am sure the operational challenges for MCPS be overcome.

We went through this terrible experience daily, nobody liked it. Why should our kids do the same?

Move Elementary School start times earlier. Little kids tend to be up earlier anyway, and parents need to get to work. The old school start times make no sense anymore.
