MCP needs to follow the science and figure out the logistics, and if that means higher taxes and so be it. Perhaps the money could come from the savings of discontinuing the unscientific stream restoration work that is costing millions.

Add in long bus times and the starts are simply ridiculous. This is obvious to everyone.

I hope that MoCo reads the literature and understands that the teens need more sleep for optimal health. I have a first grader who will one day be in high school, I want to her to be set up for success and sleep is the first step!

Other major school districts have implemented this-why can’t we? our teens need this!

I feel that it shouldn’t be so dark in the morning when I’m going to school, especially since the sun is good for us

Having to leave the house at 7am is simply too early for my teenagers, who rarely get more than 6-7 hours of sleep a night. High School should definitely start later.

Evidence shows high schoolers should start school later. Please MCPS, let’s make the change our students need.

This is something that even adults do ot value for our mental health and it is because we perpetuate this outdated mentality that “I don’t need sleep.” As a society we should be valuing sleep which makes people more productive and mentally healthy during their waking hours. Let’s start by setting an example for the young people in our community.

I have two grown guys, now 18 and 21. High school start times were way too early when they went to RMHS. Please change it for today’s kids!

I cannot emphasize enough the importance of accommodating teens' natural sleep patterns.

This change is long overdue. Please prioritize the physical and mental health of our teens by aligning the school day better with their biological clocks!

My 14yo is out the door at 6:30 I. Order to catch the bus. This is way too early for a kid that age, who has homework, extracurriculars, and needs sleep to function!

Other districts have figured this out - MCPS needs to get on board for the welfare of our children.

Please prioritize the health of our children. Studies continue to show the benefits of later start times.
