We, the Citizens of the City of McKinney, Texas, stand in support of a bicycle plan that will help make cycling safer on the streets of our City. We support a plan that outlines routes for common and recreational use, elevates driver awareness of bicycles, informs bicyclists of their rights and responsibilities on the road, and educates about the option to ride.
I was riding my bike past the park earlier and got stuck at that intersection again thinking about how much easier life would be if we just had the lanes mapped out properly. People keep sending me messages about their own close calls on the road and it really makes me realize that this is about more than just paint on the asphalt.

I really thought this might just float around in the void but seeing how many people actually want safer streets is honestly surreal and kind of overwhelming in the best way. It feels like the city is finally paying attention to what we need even if the process feels like it is moving at a snail pace sometimes.

I was looking at the screen and realized we are almost at one hundred signatures which sounds small but is actually a huge deal for this plan. If everyone who already signed just grabbed one neighbor or friend to hop on today we would hit that milestone in like ten minutes and really get the city council looking our way.

Hope this actually happens. Real bike lanes would make such a difference for getting around town on weekends.

Finally. The traffic here is getting crazy and we need designated lanes so people stop getting run off the road.
