Please read the letter associated with this petition and support the faculty that supports us everyday! To President Kress and the Monroe Community College Board of Trustees: As awareness grows among the student body that the Faculty Association has been working since August 2012. without a contract, many of us feel very strongly about this situation. This letter is an attempt to respectfully voice the opinion of Monroe Community College students and alumni on this matter. I do not wish to place blame or point fingers; in fact, my intention is the opposite. I would like to applaud you on the foundation you have built for all of us and especially for the faculty members that you have carefully chosen to teach, advise, tutor, counsel, and provide a number of other supportive services to the student body. These individuals do not make the salary of a doctor or an executive, yet they teach those who may someday become just that due in part to their commendable efforts. You all, board members and faculty alike, have created an establishment that nurtures students so that we may gain the knowledge and confidence it takes to not only succeed academically but to also stand for what we believe in and take action towards what we feel is right. I feel that this is the perfect time to exemplify the courage and integrity you have all instilled into us through each of your respective positions. We fully support our faculty and ask that you think carefully about why you chose them for this institution. Monroe Community College stands for excellence, and I wholeheartedly believe that is why the student body has the honor of receiving the instruction, guidance, and friendship from the wonderful faculty that you have hired. Thank you for creating the enriching environment provided for us at Monroe Community College. I only ask that you please reconsider your decision and allow these magnificent faculty members the stability they deserve in the form of a fair contract. The Faculty at Monroe Community College: counsel, educate, and nurture us so we may grow academically and personally; take the time to write us letters of recommendation so that we may pursue our goals; promote and cooperate with various events for our student clubs and organizations; and assist us in and out of the classroom, even when what we ask is beyond their job requirement. In essence, this is our letter of recommendation for why the Faculty Association at Monroe Community College fully deserves a fair contract. Thank you.
