Mayor Brandon Dull For Rockford
Hello! I'm Brandon Dull, an 18 year old with a dream and a plan. I wish to run for the office of Mayor in the city of Rockford, Illinois, and bring my ideas and youthful energy to an office that so desperately needs it. I'm running on an independent platform, as political parties, more often than not, create division in our society rather than any type of meaningful debate. My stances include
- A moderate tax plan that includes a lowered flat income and sales tax with a progressive tax placed on property. Alongside this is a lowered corporate tax rate to incentivize businesses to come to a city hungry for jobs and opportunities.
-A focus on educational reform and infrastructure development thought the Rockford area. The problem with Rockford's lack of up kept infrastructure is not due to a lack of money, but inefficiency in using it, with perfectly nice roads receiving money it doesn't need while downtrodden roads are lacking the money it requires to be refurbished. The same applies to schools in the Rockford area, with some of the schools being in much less need of city grant money than others. Prioritization is key.
-Funding of law enforcement. When the youth of a city joke about how their community is a name on the FBI's list of most dangerous cities, it is not something people should just wave off as being "Rockford". Rockford deserves better, its people deserve better, and to this end, rather than funding potential future housing projects, we will invest that money in our law enforcement instead. We cannot go around creating new neighborhoods when there are so many already existing ones in dire straights, and until Rockford's crime rate begins to show signs of decreasing in a meaningful manner, we cannot neglect the importance of the police.
